This year, we wanted to try something a little different with our annual calendar. Even though most of our time is spent isolated around the farm, we’d like to acknowledge the inspiration we feel from workers across the planet who continue to struggle for autonomy and liberation from the capitalists. 2023 was full of stories of working class people and labor unions in all industries around the world seizing their power to strike and demand a better life.
Taking these actions as a starting point, we decided to try and shine a light on some historic strikes that we find particularly inspiring. We are not historians or activists, and our tendency towards anarchism and English have undoubtedly biased the twelve stories we chose to illustrate.
We wanted to pick relatively well known incidents over a reasonable time period since there are more sources we could draw from. We presented a few cases where even though the strikes played an essential role in the overall action, they were a part of a larger and more complex movement. We took creative liberty in the illustrations, and they should not be taken as literal depictions of the events. Finally, the strikes are presented chronologically by year starting with January.

今年のカレンダーは、例年と少し違うテーマで作ってみました。 私たちが日常生活 の多くの時間を過ごしている畑の周りにはほとんど人通りがなく、 自然の中に響く 音しか聞こえてこないような美しくもありとても孤立した環境です。 そんな静けさ の中で植物と対話をしながら、地面と向き合い空を見上げて、私たちは時々想像 します この地面は、この空は、 ずっと先まで続いていて必ず誰かと繋がってい るということを。 この資本主義社会の中で、 自分たちの自由と自立を求めて立ち上 がる世界中の労働者たちの声は、私たちにとって確かなエネルギーになっていま す。 2023年、 世界中の多くの労働階級の人々や労働組合がより良い暮らしを求め る為にストライキを起こしました。 そしてその一つ一つに大切なストーリーがありま した。 そこからインスピレーションを受け私たちは、 過去の歴史的ストライキの中 でも特に重要だと感じる運動に光をあててみようと思ったのです。
私たちは歴史学者でもアクティビストでもありません。 カレンダーの中に描いた12 のストーリーは、あくまで私たちの主観的な視点と個人的なアナキズムへの関心 をたよりに選んだものです。 中でも一般的によく知られていて、情報を手に入れや すく描く素材が多いストーリーを選びました。 イラストは創造の自由としての表現 であり、実際に起きた出来事を忠実に表現することを目的としていません。カレン ダーでは12のストーリーは1月から年代順に紹介していきます。
